HOW TO CHANGE POCKET BIKE CLUTCH SPRINGS

Ever wondered just how to change the clutch springs on your clutch with your average garage tools?  Here's how in detail.
(We understand that some people may prefer to change their springs with the clutch still on the bike, however this can be quite awkward when using heavy duty springs.)

With fairing removed and using a 10mm socket, undo the 4 bolts holding the outer clutch housing, and remove.

Using a 10mm socket undo the crank bolt holding the clutch shoe assembly while using a screw driver as a 'stop' to prevent clutch rotating as you undo it.  (You will have to do this with the screw driver in reverse direction when doing it back up.)

Using a flat screw driver, lever sharply to pop the clutch shoe assembly off of the crank.  You may need to use 2 screw drivers.  One from either side of clutch assembly.  (see also next picture)

Place a suitable sized bolt with washer in a vice.  Then place the clutch shoe assembly over the bolt and secure it tightly with a nut. (see also next picture)

Using sharp nosed pliers, remove the spring from end of the shoe as shown in the pic.  (Please note....do NOT use side-cutters as they will
bruise the new springs and cause them to break.)  Please note also that the springs can only go on one way, so an idea would be to replace one spring at a time so you can look at the original ones being removed to see which way they go.

And there you have it!  Now you can replace your own springs!!
